Pearl Florence Vita
April 24, 1924 - September 4, 2019
Pearl Florence (Grant) Vita was born on April 24, 1924 in Ann Arbor, MI to Anna (Richardson) and Charles Grant. On Sept. 4, 2019, she passed away peacefully with her son by her side to join our Father in Heaven.
Pearl was beloved wife of the late Joseph Vita (1977). She was also predeceased by her sisters Dorothy Dearing, Janet Quinty, and Elsie Currie. Pearl is survived and will be lovingly remembered by her son, Paul Vita and his wife Donna; grandson, Brian Vita and his wife Elizabeth; and great granddaughter, Harper Vita. She is also survived by her dear sister Vivian Grant of London, ON; brother Doug Grant and his wife Michele of Port Dover, ON; sister-in-law Lucille Vita of London, ON; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pearl grew up on a farm in Beaverton, MI until the age of 9. She and her family then moved to London, ON, Canada where she lived most of the next 20 years before moving to Houston, TX in 1954. She remained very closely connected with her Canadian relatives and friends, and truly enjoyed making frequent visits to London for over 50 years.
Pearl was a faithful Catholic and a devoted, loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and true friend. She loved to travel, do various arts & crafts, needlework, and was an avid reader. Pearl also enjoyed working at a variety of jobs for over 40 years, ending her career as an Administrative Assistant at the University of Texas Medical School in Houston.
On behalf of Pearl, her family wishes to express very special thanks for the wonderful care and attention provided by the entire staff at Clarewood House in Houston where she resided for the past 18 years. Also, sincere thanks to Dr. Sree Ramphul and the Houston Hospice team for their compassionate medical services.
Visitors will be received at the John T. Donohue Funeral Home, 362 Waterloo Street at King Street, on Saturday, September 21st at 10:30 a.m. A Memorial Service will be conducted at 11 a.m., followed immediately by inurnment in St. Peter's Cemetery.
