As a teenager, I remember Aunt Pearl, on one her many visits to London, Ontario, stayed with me at my house on Victoria Street for a week or so. Aside from her sense of humour, which was always good-natured and generous, she had the most charming way of reminding me what degrees of cleanliness civilized adults expected when they were houseguests. I don’t believe I have ever cleaned or tidied that frequently before or since, nor done so under such a subtle, but exacting, watch. It was a fun and educational visit, to say the least.
Rest In Peace, Aunt Pearl.
