Rikki, Bob and family, I have had the pleasure of playing golf with Harry every week as part of our regular group. Having had three types of cancer over the last five years myself , Harry was an inspiration to me always looking at things positively, I want you to know he helped me a great deal battling this terrible disease. Harry always had a smile at Greenhills golfing especially after the round when he was taking all our money from our weekly skins game. Believe me when I say every time we throw balls in a hat this summer or when we are playing cards we will be thinking about Harry. He was and always will be an inspiration to me. I am so sorry that I am unable to make the funeral due to the weather, our boats are not running due to high winds, and even if I got across all our roads are closed. I wish I could have been there for you as you were all there for my Mom and me when my Dad passed over thirty years ago. I have never forgot how you were all so helpful during our grief and how you are still so wonderful to my Mom now. Lieve familie in canada, Wij kunnen helaas niet persoonlijk afscheid nemen, wij kunnen helaas niet bij jullie zijn. Maar wij denken aan jullie en voelen de pijn. The loss of a parent leaves a void that can only be filled with warm memories and the love you shared with them, as well as, the support of your family. My wife and I have lost both of our parents, and we understand the swell of emotion and sorrow that will greet the family during this time of loss. We never had the pleasure or privilege of meeting Henricus 'Harry' Hoevenaars, but have been graced by our knowing Tony and the Hoevenaars family. In Texas, we have a saying that “the acorn does not fall from the tree”. Knowing the quality of the man in his son and grandsons, Harry Hoevenaars must of have been a man of honor, respect and compassion. Ginger and I both offer up our thoughts and prayers to the entire family during this time of mourning. Keep his memory close in your heart and he will always be with you!

My heart goes out to Bob and all his family and close friends who have had the privilege to be blessed by Harry in their lives . My memories of Harry all involve courage , conviction, friendship and fun . As others have declared he always brought a certain playful fellowship and yet distinct views on various issues of the day . I vividly recall first meeting him at Ghills and I shall cherish witnessing his hole-in-one upon his return to golf after yet another episode with that dreaded cancer . I also have wonderful memories of a great trip to Innerkip with Ralph and Pete.
