Obituary of Rev. Joseph Francis Hardy

Hardy, Fr. Joseph Francis

Died on Sunday, June 2, 2024 at Mount Hope Centre for Long-Term Care, in his 91st year.  Son of the late Joseph and Mary (Geary) Hardy. Born in Chicago July 28, 1933.  Brother of James T. (Marj) Hardy.  Uncle of Michael (Colleen), Patrick (Lisa), Brenda (Steve) Papp and Dan (Lisa).  Great uncle of Madeleine, Joey, Sam and Owen Hardy, Serenna and Kieran Hardy, Rosie, Ryan and Renee Papp and Mark and Andrew Hardy.  Cousin of Eddie and Billy Madden and many others in the United States. Ordained a Priest for the Diocese of London, May 29, 1965, Fr. Joe served in many parishes in the Diocese, including St. Joseph, Clinton, St. Michael, Blyth, St. Columban and Blessed Sacrament, London - now all closed.  After retirement in 2003 he served in Most Holy Redeemer Evergreen Pk Ill. USA.  

Visitors will be received at St. Mary's Church, 345 Lyle Street, on Thursday morning, June 6 from 10 o'clock until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11 o'clock with Bishop Ronald P. Fabbro presiding.  Reception to follow in the church hall.  Interment in St. Peter's Cemetery will be held Thursday afternoon at 2:30.  No flowers please.  Donations to Covenant House - a shelter for homeless youth (www.convenanthouse.org) would be appreciated.
