"Aunt" Rita was one of my Mum's dearest friends. They had been friends since the 1950s; with any luck, they're getting caught up, wherever they are. My condolences to Rita and Ron's family -- you were very lucky to have them in your lives.

What sweet memories: Currant bread, lovingly sliced, served up with lemonade. I was at the Storybarn on the cliffside at Dyers Bay on a summer's evening. Rita and Ron created a coziness. The fluffy sofas filled the tiny room. The cushions on the carpetted floor plumped up. Every rustic amenity considered. The one-hole biffy just a few short steps across the bridge. A blow-in about twenty years ago,I will always remember the gentle presence of Rita. With her family, Jan

As a former librarian and long-time-ago reporter for the Petrolia Advertiser-Topic, I remember meeting Ron several times.
As a long time Bruce Trail user, I want to support Rita and Ron's advocacy work with this modest donation.

We were blessed to go to the Story Barn in Dyers Bay with our granddaughters and to read Sarah's Dinosaur over and over again. Such a kind and loving couple who gave so much to their community.

So many wonderful memories of Rita. What a woman!!!! From the DB parade, bake sale, beach bbq, Cabot Head Lighthouse, Spirit Singers, Bruce Trail, Story Barn, dog walking, authoring storybooks, and being the pivotal sign of spring in the Bay. Folks would ask “Have you seen Ron and Rita yet?”. And once they came down the hill we knew the season had really started. Rita is joining some of the good souls who have left us over the last few years. It’s up to the rest of us to carry on the amazing care of our environment in her honour. Rest in peace Rita.
