I was saddened to read of Jim’s passing in the Free Press. As a mature student I had the pleasure of being in a history class at G.A. Wheable, and the teacher was Mr. James McInnes. Jim inspired many of his students to reach beyond high school and expand their understanding of the world. I will always remember, Jim’s smile and keen wit…To quote my generation, Jim was one cool dude.

I remember the first time I met Jim and his wife, Yaga. They were living on Edward Street and Jim and my husband were teaching in the English Department at Saunders Secondary School. Our children were all very young, pretty much babies and toddlers. As the years passed they all grew up.
Our friendship endured through the many changes Life wrought upon us all, including their family move to Ridout Street and my move to New York. But my strongest memories are of the grand times we spent at Grand Bend together. They had a small cottage there, and we would come up for the day. While our children frolicked on the beach and the lawn of the property, we would enjoy the pleasures of good company and food, warm sun and the refreshing waters of Lake Huron.
Our love of music and the arts were often topics of conversation. Jim was warm and friendly, yet possessed a tenacity and sense of humour which was never far away. He will be missed......

Yaga and family, my sincere condolences on Jim’s passing. I always looked forward to seeing him during his visits to my office. We always had a great chat about Grand Bend and my sailing as well as James’ involvement with the Grand Bend tennis courts. In fact as I write this message I am looking up at a colourful print of racing sailboats that I Jim gave me. I have it on the wall directly over my desk. I look at it daily and fondly remember Jim. My prayers are with you during this difficult time.
