1929-2023

"I love all my children, my grandchildren, my family"

Wendlin John Brotzel, on July 30, 2023 at McGarrell Place, in his 95th year.  Born the youngest of Black Sea immigrants to Johannes and Franciska.  Wendlin was predeceased by 9 siblings--Barbara, Wendlin I (5 yrs old), Emmanual, John, Jacob, Nicholas, Michael, Joseph and Frances.  Wendlin is also predeceased by his loving wife Doris (1978) and Bea (2016).

Treasured father of Rosalie Dias (Richard) of London, Glenn (Susan) of Dundas, Rena Gaile Wheatley (Mark Wheatley) of Bracebridge and Myrna Allen (Randy) of London.  Loving grandfather to Jonathan (Marcia), Nicholas (Jenna), Matthew, Erin (Tim), Sarah (Jacob), Andrew (Leanne), Travis (Amy), Scott, Thomas and Morgan.  Great grandpa to Nixxon, Logan, Hudson, Riley, Abigail, Adalynn and Ella.  Wendlin was also a favourite uncle to many nephews and nieces across Canada, whom he also treasured.

Wendlin worked for 25 years as an Electrician at Kellogg's.  He led the Folk Choir at Blessed Sacrament Church for years. He will always be remembered for his love of music, which he instilled in all of his children and grandchildren; Wendlin could and did fix anything and everything.  We will always remember the water fights, the jokes and the love.

Much thanks and deepest affections for the staff at McGarrell Place for their loving care and support over the years, we say “staff” but you were much more like family to us. 

The best things in life come to those who wait, and we were blessed with the gift of precious time to spend with him before he left us.

He wanted us to remember:  "Have I told you lately that I love you?  You are my Sunshine!  Always, Always..."

Visitors will be received at John T. Donohue Funeral Home, 362 Waterloo Street at King Street, on Monday, August 7 from 2pm-4pm and 7pm-9pm.  Prayers at 7pm.  Funeral Mass at St. Patrick’s Church, 377 Oakland Avenue, on Tuesday, August 8 at 11am.  Interment in St. Peter's Cemetery.  Donations to the charity of choice would be appreciated.
