Wendlin was one of my favourites from my mom’s days at Grand Wood. His stories about Saskatchewan where both my parents were born, and how his face lit up when the guitar came out are two of my best memories, along with people like Margaret, Maggie, and Lydia in the one picture. Fond memories of family celebrations at Rick and Rosalie's home come flooding back when Len and myself would meet Wendlin and Bea and discuss our involvement in Parish activities. Sorry I am not able to be present to say farewell to a great spirit who brought joy to so many with his music. May he now join the choir of angels and we will all meet again one day.

Your father spread joy through his music and sense of humour. I always remember him enjoying the o pportunity to play his guitar and sing at family gathering. I remember Mr Brotzel spreading joy through performing at my mom and dad's senior's home.
He loved to tease, nicknaming me Chrisite Love --a name that h e continued to call me throughout the five decades he was present in my life.
He holds a special place on my thoughts and heart.
His love of life will live on in everyone whose lives he touched!

When I was first learning to play guitar (I believe on a guitar I borrowed from my sister Mary Ann), I had the privilege to stand behind Mr. Brotzel in choir during the masses at Blessed Sacrament to watch and learn from a master musician. Then when I was comfortable playing, Mrs Doris Brotzel brought me an acoustic guitar in a cardboard box every Friday morning so I had something to play and was then able to lead the choir in song during the 8 am masses at St Lawrence Catholic School in grade 7 (until my sister loaned me money to buy my own guitar in grade 8). Both Mr & Mrs Brotzel were extremely kind to me, not mention very gentle souls. I will never forget how they supported and influenced my musical path which has affected my entire life. Sadly I will be out of town for Mr. Brotzel's visitation and service but please accept my deepest condolences on the loss of such a wonderful man, husband, father and grandfather ... and know I will be thinking of you all during this mournful time.
