Obituary of Anna Devito

Devito, Anna It is with great sadness that the family of Anna Devito announces her passing, on Saturday December 26, 2015, at the age of 87. Beloved wife of the late Domenico Devito. Loving mother of Angela Devito, Isabella Devito and husband Bernard Gillies, and Nancy Cookson and husband Peter. Proud nonna of Emily and Julianne Devito, James (Angela), Christopher, Jennifer and Andrew Gillies, and Christina, Michael and Melissa Cookson. Dear sister of the late Giacomo (Assunta) Monteleone, Bettina (the late Paolo) Desumma, Peter Monteleone, Maria (the late Nicola) Corsini, the late Domenico (Natalina) Monteleone, and Melina (the late Tony) Devito. Dear sister-in-law of Giuseppe (Annita) Devito, and predeceased by Ida (Francesco) Ioele, Rosina (Antonio) Currado, Vincenzo Devito, Pietro Giovanni (Caterina) Devito and Battista Devito. Anna is survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins in Canada, Italy and Argentina. A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Lucy Pezzutto for her compassionate care of our mother and nonna. Anna was born on September 29th, 1928 in Curinga, Italy and moved to London, Ontario, Canada in 1961. She worked at Victoria Hospital for many years before retiring. Her passion for her flower and vegetable gardens were well known as she proudly showed them off to family and friends. Anna's true pride and joy were her grandchildren, whom she loved dearly, and preparing multicourse Italian meals for her family. Visitors will be received at the John T. Donohue Funeral Home, 362 Waterloo Street at King Street, London on Thursday, December 31st from 2-4 pm and on Friday, January 1st from 7-9 pm. Prayers Friday evening at 8:15 pm. Funeral Mass at St. Mary's Church, 345 Lyle Street on Saturday, January 2nd at 11 am. Entombment in Holy Family Mausoleum - St. Peter's Cemetery. Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
