Obituary of Sophie Marie Balko

Balko, Sophie (nee Goreski) Peacefully passed away at St. Mary’s – Mount Hope on August 24, 2015 in her 87th year. Loving wife of Joseph for 66 years. Loving mother of Cheryl (Ron) Barned and Lorraine Bakelaar. Proud grandmother of Steven (Patricia) Barned and Michelle (Ian) Hunter. Great grandmother of Madison, Emily and Nathan. Survived by her brother Adam Goreski and sister-in-law Beatrice Martin. Predeceased by her parents Joseph and Helen, and by her siblings Lena, Anne, John, Frank, Phil, August, Tom and Rudy. The family would like to thank everyone who sent cards and prayers, to the doctors at the hospitals in the city, and to the staff of the 4th floor at St. Mary’s – Mount Hope for their kindness and care. A special thank you to Fr. Murray Sample of St. Michael’s Parish, and all the priests of the diocese in London. Visitors will be received at St. Michael’s Parish, 511 Cheapside Street, Friday morning, August 28th at 10 o’clock until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11 o’clock. Interment in St. Peter’s Cemetery, London. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Michaels’ Parish would be appreciated.
