Obituary of Roberta Jacqueline Webb

Roberta Jacqueline Webb Passed away peacefully at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre on Friday, January 2, 2015. Roberta Jacqueline Webb (Heard) was in her 75th year. Daughter of the late Dr. H. Stanley Heard and the late Dorothy Heard (nee Dodd) of London and Bayfield, Ontario. Loving sister of the late Wesley Reid Heard aka “Joe”. Beloved wife of William A. Webb for more than 54 years. Devoted mother of sons, William R. Webb and Robert J. Webb. Precious mother-in-law to Dr. Agnes Wong and Noriko Webb. Cherished grandmother “DeeDee” aka “the KK Lady” to Stephen, James, Aiko and Masato. She was a life long learner and avid reader who loved reading with her children and grandchildren. She shared her love of literature, travel, film and the arts with her family and friends. DeeDee was most at home when relaxing on the beach at her family cottage “Braeside" in Bayfield, Ontario. Roberta was at her very best in the midst of great adversity which she faced with both humour and clarity of purpose. She was always looking out for the well being of others ahead of herself. Her incredible generosity of spirit, her deep desire to help others and especially her boundless capacity to listen - to both spoken and unspoken words, were her finest characteristics. Roberta was an avid supporter of the Glenhyrst Art Gallery of Brant, the Burlington Breast Cancer Society, the Canadian Red Cross, and the well being of indigenous people. Roberta successfully battled cancer a number of times and was at peace in her final months given her personal experiences as a palliative care support volunteer. Visitors will be received by the family at the John T. Donohue Funeral Home, 362 Waterloo Street at King Street in London, Ontario on Wednesday, January 7th from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Prayers Wednesday evening at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Peter’s Basilica, 196 Dufferin Avenue in London, Ontario on Thursday, January 8th, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. A family burial will take place at the Bayfield Cemetery in the spring.
