Obituary of Sister Rose Ellen Donnelly
SISTER ROSE ELLEN DONNELLY
The Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph in Canada, London neighbourhood, announce the death of our dear Sr. Rose Ellen at home in our Care Centre, November 26, 2014. Born in 1925, Sister entered the Sisters of St. Joseph in 1948 and lived among us for 66 years. Lovingly remembered by her Sisters in community, her nephews Bill (Adams), Ernie (Adams), Martin (Donnelly), and her niece Patricia (Cooke). Predeceased by her parents John and Rose Ellen (Taylor), her sisters Mary Margaret (Adams), Helen, Catherine, and brothers Martin and William. Trained in Hospital Business and Administration, Sister served for 18 years at St. Joseph's Hospital London, 11 years at Marian Villa, and 13 years at Killam General Hospital and Complex (Alberta). Her final 8 years of ministry were at Mount St. Joseph Motherhouse (London) as Administrator. In her retirement Sister found many ways to be of service at the Mount and later at our Windermere Residence: welcoming visitors, lending a supportive ear, and eager to hear the plans that were unfolding for the future of the Congregation. Her steady confidence in God's abounding love accompanied her through her final hours. We thank God for Rose Ellen's presence among us, and for the compassionate care provided to her by our Care Centre staff and the emergency department, University Hospital (LHSC). All services will be held at the Sisters Residence, 485 Windermere Rd. Visitation: Friday, November 28, 2-4 and 7-8 with Prayer Service at 6:30. Mass of Christian Burial: Saturday, November 29, 10 a.m. Burial at St. Peter's Cemetery. (John T. Donohue Funeral Home.)
