Obituary of Laura Josephine Thorne

Thorne, Laura Jospephine (Moir) It is with much sadness that the family of Laura Josephine Thorne, born June 4, 1913 announces her passing on October 25, 2014. Laura was the loving wife of the late Harold Edward Thorne (1989), dear mother of Stephen (Carolyn) Thorne, beloved grandmother of Randy Thorne and Leah (Jeff) Chestnut and special great grandmother to Tessa, Matthew and Jared. Laura was predeceased by her parents John and Margaret (McIlhargy) Moir, her three brothers Bill (Rose), Zack (Mildred and Helen) and Jim (Evelyn) and her three sisters Ann (Jack) O'Brien, Olive (Charlie) Christie and Madeline (Duke) Monck. Laura's dearest friend Kay Small predeceased her by 12 hrs and 20 mins so their special bond continues. Laura will long be remembered for her kind and loving ways. She brightened the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Special thanks to all the staff on 5th floor at Marian Villa for the kindness and compassion you showed mom and especially to Ashley for keeping her connected to her special friend of nearly 85 years Ruth Byrnes (Moffatt) of Windsor. Visitors will be received at John T. Donohue Funeral Home, 362 Waterloo Street at King Street, on Thursday evening, October 30 from 7-9 o'clock. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Michael's Church, 511 Cheapside Street, on Friday morning at 10 o'clock. Interment in St. Peter's Cemetery.
