Obituary of John Byron Ducharme
DUCHARME, J. Byron, London, Ontario. - died - September 29, 2014 age -100. John Byron DuCharme: born April 19, 1914 in Zurich, Ontario to parents, David and Dehlia (Geoffroi) DuCharme. Loving husband of the late Eleanor (Gooding); survived by daughters, Marie Dechman, Nova Scotia, Marilyne Jo-Anne Brennan, London, sons, David (Carol), Dennis (Karin), London, Michael, St. Joseph's, Larry, Carlisle; sister, Doreen Russell, B.C., sister-in-law, Lillian (Cyril) DuCharme, London; brother-in-law, Donald Allen; many Grands & Great Grands. Byron was a faithful member of St. Vincent de Paul Society, member of St. Peters Basilica, founding member, St. Martins and St. John the Divine. He sang in church choirs from the age of six. His final retirement from St. John the Divine Choir came at the age of 96. He loved animals, particularly, ducks and Canada geese. He was an award winning bee keeper along with his friend Dr. Ted Marth. He invented his own honey extraction equipment. Byron traveled to the U.S., Canada, the Caribbean and Europe where he rejoiced in singing the Mass in Latin, French and German. He attended Guelph University, working most of his life at Middlesex Creamery; later for City of London. Byron was predeceased by brothers, Gilbert, Russell, George, Wilfred, Cyril, sisters Patricia, Eleanor, Evelyn, Pearl, son-in-law, Arthur M. Dechman, daughter-in-law, Dorothy DuCharme. Visitors will be received at John T. Donohue Funeral Home, 362 Waterloo Street at King Street on Wednesday, October 1st from 2-4 and 7-9 o'clock. Funeral Mass at St. John the Divine Church, 390 Baseline Road West, on Thursday, October 2nd morning at 10:30 a.m. Interment in St. Peter's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, in memory of Byron's life long devotion to St. Vincent de Paul; donations to this Society are sincerely appreciated
