Wonderful, generous, kind and caring these are words to describe my great aunt Liza Newman. Aunt Liza was like a grandmother to us. She was a wonderful lady and we will miss her dearly. As children we looked forward to her visits she was a funny lady. She took time to acknowledge each and every one of us. She wAs my Grandmothers sister but we considered her as a grandma to us. She would play tricks on our children and have them laughing in hysterics. Those are the memories we cherish. I was a shy child but in aunt Liza presence she would talk to me and try and get me talking and bring me out of my shell. I remember visiting her and we looked forward to her dessert of peppermint ice cream. My mom tells me stories when my dad was a boy and Aunt Liza took care of my dad and took him everywhere with her in Scotland. I know my dad loved her dearly. At Easter time she always bought us a huge Easter bunny to share and it was like we were the luckiest kids alive to receive a bunny that big. Aunt Liza travelled from London to kitchener once a month to see my parents and have dinner with us. We so looked forward to her visits she reminded us of queen Elizabeth we had to shine the silverware and plates and make sure everything was perfect for her visit. When she moved to st. Joseph hospital she was excited to let me know that she played wheel chair hockey and to let my son kyle know that she had scored lots of goals. She knew kyle played hockey also. Once we had our kids aunt Liza took all her time to talk with each and every child at every visits. I remember her telling me she would try and make it to be 100 years old. She gave it a good go. We will always love and remember you aunt Liza you were the best person in our life and you will be greatly missed. Love Trish
