With profound sadness and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Tata, Dida, brother, uncle, and friend, on March 24th, in his 83rd year. Niko Zilic was born on May 6th 1936, in his beloved homeland, Skabrnja, Croatia. In 1961, he travelled by boat to Pier 21 to his adopted homeland, Canada. Settling in London, Ontario, Niko proudly raised his family and made treasured friendships that spanned a lifetime. Niko is the dearly loved father of Mary Brkljaca (Milenko), John Zilic, and Jadranka Zilic, and missed by their mother, Janja Zilic. Cherished Dida of Marina, Sophina, Leanna (Lukasz), Sabrina, Jayna, Julia, Jordan, Olivia, and Rebecca. He will be greatly missed by his brother, Ivica Zilic and sister, Ika Prgesa and sisters-in-law Ana and Milka, and brother-in-law Ivica. Predeceased, Niko joins his treasured parents, Sime and Milica, and siblings Tadija, Ante, Stoja, and Adam of Croatia. He will be missed and lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews and friends in both Croatia and Canada. Niko Zilic will be remembered for his undeniable love for his family and friends, his playful sense of humour, his devote patriotism, and his zest for life. His legacy will undoubtedly live on in all who knew and loved him. Visitors will be received at the John T. Donohue Funeral Home, 362 Waterloo Street, London, on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 o'clock. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Leopold Mandic Croatian Catholic Church, 2889 Westminster Drive on Friday morning at 10 o'clock. Prayers will be held on Thursday evening at 8 o'clock. Interment in St. Peter's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Uznesenje Blazene Djevice Marije Church in Skabrnja, Croatia or St. Leopold Mandic Croatian Catholic Church in London, Ontario.
