Obituary of Mario Gargarella

GARGARELLA, Mario Born in Treglio, Italy on July 22, 1944. Passed away peacefully in the company of his two boys and first cousin on January 2, 2018 at Parkwood Hospital at the age of 74, after a valiant and courageous battle with terminal brain cancer. For 46 years the treasured and deeply loved husband of Jan Gargarella (predeceased). Beloved and respected father to Carmine and his wife Diane, and John and his wife Michelle, of London. Devoted and cherished Grandfather to Emily, Benjamin, Luke and Logan Gargarella. It was their stories he was most interested in. Dearest brother to Tony and Franco Gargarella (both predeceased) and their wives Guiseppina and Barbara whom he loved very much. Highly respected uncle to his nieces and nephews whom all love and will miss him so much. His excited spirit and devotion to his sons and their families will be forever held close to their hearts. Family was all to him! He has left us a legacy of strength, perseverance, commitment, humour, stubbornness and opinion :), but above all else, unconditional love! Attributes that would come out quickly to those that were lucky enough to know him. The Gargarella family would like to extend their deepest thanks to Dr. Macdonald and Dr. Bauman and their care team. Thanks too for the beautiful care he received from the Parkwood Hospital - Palliative Care team in his last days. To Carlo Gargarella (nephew) who sacrificed much and played an active role through Mario's battle and the close support he received from Henry Pasquini, Giuliano Dicola and Nick Vasija who were all constant pillars of friendship - Thank you! Visitors will be received at John T. Donohue Funeral Home, 362 Waterloo Street at King Street, on Sunday, January 6th from 2-4 and 7-9 o'clock. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary's Church, 345 Lyle Street, on Monday morning, January 7th at 11 o'clock. Entombment in Holy Family Mausoleum, St. Peter's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to Parkwood Institute Palliative Care would be appreciated.
