Nanny had such a kind spirit and embraced life with love. I believe she is an Angel now watching over all of us, like she was when she was living. She loved her family and was always talking about them to anyone that would listen. She never had pets but she sure loved her backyard animal friends. One time, when I was young, A chipmunk was drowning in her pool, so I scooped it up and saved it, after a few seconds, when the chipmunk realized I was still holding it, the little guy bit my hand then ran off. Nanny came running out and the first thing out of her mouth was, "oh my goodness is the chipmunk ok?". Maybe she didn't noticed that I was bit. That was her gentle spirit that I will always remember, the one always looking out for her chipmunks and birds. Anyone would have been envious of her garden, those beautiful flowers. Her cucumbers were always plentiful and I must say they were one vegetable every kid was happy to eat. I'd like to think that she passed down to me her love of gardening, love for those cute backyard animals and most importantly love of family. The beautiful memories I will cherish most, is spending the summer at her house, swimming in the pool, playing dress up in her clothes, and she would braid my hair and we would laugh and chat. I will always love you Nanny. You will always be my shinning light.
