Obituary of Francis Gatt
Gatt, Francis
Passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at St. Joseph's Hospice in London on Sunday, February 12, 2017 just before his 90th birthday. He went to join his wife of 69 years, Yvonne Gatt, who predeceased him by 10 days. They were always together in life and are now together in heaven. Frank was the dear father of George (Sandie) Gatt, Fred (Maria) Gatt and Ray (Kathy) Gatt. Proud Gramps and Grandpa Busse of 10 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. He is survived by his sister Gladys (the late Tony) Conti of Malta. Predeceased by his parents Maria Carmela and George Gatt, his brothers Joe (Carrie), Tony (Nina) and his sisters Antoinette (Nan), Chandler and Mary Cass. Frank was known throughout London for his extravagant Christmas light display at his family home on Saskatoon Street. He enjoyed many years of bringing happiness and smiling faces to the families and friends who would come to see the display. The family would like to express the utmost gratitude to the staff and volunteers at the hospice for the exceptional support and care Dad and all the family received during this time. Frank had a great fondness for the care that Abby (who was there when he arrived at Hospice and also escorted him out), Derrick (who knew how to make a hot cup of coffee) and Rachel gave him. A very special thanks to Dr. Kahn whose professionalism and sensitivity on this difficult road was a huge comfort to all of our family. Thank you to Al, Dorothy and Darryl who provided Frank and the family with spiritual support. Thank you, Wendy for always being there - you have the most welcoming shoulders. We would also like to thank Tracey, Deanna, Heather and Chris would managed to keep a smile on Dad's face at mealtimes during his stay at Kensington Village. Visitors will be welcomed at the John T. Donohue Funeral Home, 362 Waterloo Street at King Street, on Thursday, February 16th from 5-8 o'clock with a prayer service at 6 o'clock. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Patrick's Church, 377 Oakland Avenue at Dundas Street, on Friday morning at 11 o'clock. Interment in Holy Family Mausoleum - St. Peter's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Joseph's Hospice would be greatly appreciated.
