Obituary of Renato Michele Gasparotto
Gasparotto, Renato
Renato Michele Gasparotto, in his 70th year, died February 13, 2017, at his home, surrounded by the love of his family who were his world. Much loved husband of Stephanie Susan Gasparotto (nee Davey) for 47 beautiful years. Proud father of Mark Anthony (Shannon), Sarah Davey (Michael), Vanessa Jefferson (Enrico), and Jessica Michela (Chris). Loving son of Olga Gasparotto and favourite brother of Irene McManus (Terry). Caring Nonno of Abigail Alexandra, Emily Erin O'Neil, Mark Davey Gasparotto, Luca Gasparotto, Niamh Joyce Gasparotto, Nathalie Prater, William Prater, Sofia Gasparotto, Claire Prater, and Finley Prater. Predeceased by his father Marco and his daughter Alexandra Susan whom he cherished. Sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, friends, neighbours and former colleagues. Born March 5, 1947, in Milano, he immigrated to Canada at the age of 2, landing at Pier 21 in Halifax, in search of a better life. After short stints in Beachville and Toronto with his parents Olga and Marco, and sister Irene, they eventually settled in London where he went to Wheable High School. Renato completed his undergraduate degree in English at UWO from 1966-1969 and then studied law there graduating in 1972. He practiced law for almost four decades, specializing in libel, media and wrongful dismissal, retiring recently from Siskinds where he was a partner. Renato had a passion for fast cars, reading crime novels, doing crossword puzzles, watching sports on TV, and working the earth in his glorious garden. But above all it was the time he spent with his family quietly observing and celebrating each and every one of their accomplishments that contented him the most. The family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses, and support care workers with the London Regional Cancer Centre at Victoria Hospital, CCAC and the VON. Visitations will be held at John T. Donohue Funeral Home, 362 Waterloo Street at King Street, London, Ontario, on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 from 2-4 PM, and from7-9 PM. Mass of Christian burial will take place on Thursday, February 16, 2017 at St. Michael's Parish, 511 Cheapside St. London, Ontario, at 10 AM. Interment to follow at St. Peter's Cemetery. Donations to Colon Cancer Canada (coloncancercanada.ca) would be welcomed.
