Elva Marie Taylor (nee Overholt) Peacefully passed away surrounded by her loving family at Earls Court Village Nursing Home, London, on Thursday, January 5,2017 in her 94th year. Beloved wife of the late Edward (Ted) James Taylor. Devoted mother and brave role model to her children Kathleen (Michael) Worrall, Michael (Helen) Taylor, Ted (Bonnie) Taylor, Jerry (Joyce) Taylor, Mary (Barrie) Godbout, Anne (Dennis) Shearme, Carol (Brian) Curran, Jeannie (Darcy) Taylor-Larivee, Theresa (Paul) Lemke and Cecilia (Jerry) Pickering. Loving Grandma of Carrie Ann, Sean, Aaron, Ryan, Dwayne, Dwight, Jennifer, Stephanie, Oliver, Nicole, Michael, Amanda, Kurtis, Crystal, Dustin, Michael, Jesse, Jeremy, Joshua, Randy, Jessica, Kristi, Joshua, Jordan. Dear sister-in-law of Norah (Walter) Neilsen, the late Robert (Antoinette)Taylor, the late Lucy (Ray) James, the late Marie (Phillip) Durand, the late Madge (Archie) Masse. Predeceased by her parents Norman and Caroline Overholt. Mom was born on the Blue Water Highway on August 29,1923 at her parent’s homestead in Hay Township. After marrying her beloved Ted, she raised her ten children In St. Patrick’s Parish in East London in a one bathroom, 5 bedroom home. We were the first on the block to have a black and white television. Every Saturday Mom would bake 7 pies and 2 dozen butter tarts from scratch which she hid in order for there to be any left for the coming week. Despite 12 people at our dinner table there was always room for our friends who marvelled at how Mom managed to feed us all at one sitting. In her spare time, she loved to garden and grow vegetables and fruit for fall canning. Flower gardens had to compete with Dad’s lawn mower. In her retirement years, Mom’s greatest joy was spending time with her “Ted” at what she called her half acre of heaven in Bayfield and surrounded by her loving family. She enjoyed countless hours in her cottage garden and hand stitching teddy bears, dolls and rabbits which she made for all her children and grandchildren for the annual Taylor Christmas party. Visitors will be received at the John T. Donohue Funeral Home 362 Waterloo Street at King Street Sunday, January 8th from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick Catholic Church 377 Oakland Avenue at Dundas St. Monday, January 9th at 11am. Interment in St. Peter Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations to your favourite charity in Mom’s name would be appreciated. Some of mom’s final words to her family members. “I have no regrets. I wouldn’t change a darn thing.”
