Guiseppe Rogolino

Obituary of Guiseppe Rogolino

Rogolini, Guiseppe “Joe” Our dear husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend passed away suddenly at University Hospital on November 2, 2016 at 96 years of age. Born in Coleman, Alberta, on May 11, 1920. Loving husband to Catherine for 72 years. Beloved father of Sharon (Tim) and Raymond; grandfather of Nathan, Justin (Melissa) and welcoming Joe into heaven is his little angel grand-daughter, Shannon. Joe was preceded in death by his parents Filippo “Phillip” and Filomena (nee Benedetto); by siblings Charlie (Antonette), Grace (Peter), Frances (Gerald) and infant sister Italia. He will be greatly missed by many close family members, numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. Joe had many interests in life; he was a talented musician and played the trumpet in dance bands and parades. He will be remembered for his keen sense of humour, love of music and love of Catherine’s cooking. He and Catherine enjoyed years of travel with their family and as a couple to western Canada, California, Europe, Alaska, Aruba, Bahamas, Barbados, Portugal and Arizona. He had a passion for the outdoors and was an avid angler and hunter. He liked relaxing at the family cottage at Point Clark, Ontario. He played bocce with friends, enjoyed golfing and was an armchair sports enthusiast. In addition, he enjoyed reading, card-playing and word searches. During his life, each evening Joe and Catherine would play scopa/briscola and have tea and toast after their game. A successful businessman, Joe founded Rogolino Electric Inc. in 1949. Joe was a member of the Electrical Contractors League, London Chamber of Commerce and the Marconi Club of which he was president. During his term, he was instrumental in organizing the construction of the present building. He was the eldest member of the Knights of Columbus in Ontario. Joe’s faith was always important and a source of comfort to him. His devoted belief in God brought him peace throughout the years and in the time preceding his death. Friends and family will be received at the John T. Donohue Funeral Home, 362 Waterloo Street at King Street, on Friday afternoon from 2-5 o’clock. Funeral Mass at St. George Catholic Church, 1164 Commissioners Road West, on Saturday at 12 noon. Interment in St. Peter’s Cemetery. Parish prayers will be offered on Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock.
