SISTER IRENE CONNELLY
of the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph in Canada, London neighbourhood, died peacefully April 20 at University Hospital. Born in 1923, Sister was received into the community in 1942 and professed her final vows in 1947. Lovingly remembered by her Sisters in community, her siblings Grace Murray, Marie Marrinan, Cecelia (Jack) Kelly, Helen Young and Loretta Riley, and sisters-in-law Leona and Cecelia, as well as many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Always hard-working and taking pride in a job well done, she lived out her mission as a Sister of St. Joseph by caring for the needs of others with postings at St. Joseph's Hospital Sarnia, the House of Providence and St. Mary's Hospital London, St. Peter's Seminary London, our convents in Yellowknife, N.W.T., Simcoe and Windsor. In 1997 she returned to London for supportive living.
We remember Sr. Irene for her practical "take charge nature" and deep sense of faith, facing into her final moments aware that God was calling her into Easter glory.
