Over the years Lou became a good friend and neighbor. He and Mary Margaret were kind and generous and welcoming hosts. Fond memories of Christmas aperitifs by the fire, hearing about the farm days and family updates - an annual occasion we anticipated and cherished. Acquainted during a routine vet visit more than 24 years ago, Lou and Jon soon cultivated a lasting friendship, grounded in their passion for hunting and the outdoors. Eventually we became neighbors, and finally we could take turns hosting annual our Christmas socials. During those 13 years, we came to understand how important Lou was to the fabric of our neighborhood. You could set your clock by his movements: lights on in the den at night - a serious ball game was likely in progress; garage door open in the morning - ready for business and/or a phone call; garage door closed after 11 am - gone to church. He walked great distances and kept abreast of neighborhood news with those he met along the way. Always offering up a smile that warmed his eyes and landed in a firm hand shake or tight hug when he greeted you. Always a good listener, interested to hear your news and offer sage advice or extend an offer to help with some task... When he moved to care for Mary Margaret at Chelsea, the lights on Kingsford dimmed a bit, deprived of his vibrant energy and endearing presence. He will be forever remembered as a loyal friend and gracious neighbor, a reliable, compassionate doctor of veterinary medicine - a kind and generous man who was deeply rooted in his faith and profoundly devoted to his wife and family.

Jane, Jim, Mike and families. It's with sadness that I read of Lou's death. Words are inadequate at times such as these but rest assured that you are in my thoughts and prayers. Lou was always a voice of reason, patience and understanding when Jim and Mike were young hockey players. I enjoyed our conversations at the rink or in later years on a chance meeting at the supermarket. His dedication to Mary Margaret was second to none and was most noteworthy. I regret that I am unable to attend the visitation nor the service. Please accept my sincere condolence.

Our condolences from Saskatchewan. We wish that we could attend but may only send our love and a few thoughts.
Uncle Lou was such a kind and thoughtful man. Memories of Heidi, swimming, bbs, vet clinic visits, brief hellos in the "adult" living room and his chuckle laugh. Uncle Lou taught me how to be "of service" in the masterful manner in which he cared for, supported and surrendered to the needs of another-his wife, let alone his children and all the pets in his care. All I witnessed was love. Aunt Mary Margaret must have felt so honoured. Uncle Lou - you are a true legacy.
Thank you for being a part of my life!
With love and the fondest of thoughts - we say farewell.
