Obituary of Arthur William Flynn
FLYNN, Arthur William (P.Eng.) - Art died peacefully in London on July 25th, 2016, at the age of 84. He was the loving husband of Joan, the proud father of Jennifer (Arthur), Shauna (Nick), and Michael, and grandfather to Owen, Robin, Michael, and Matthew. He was recently predeceased by his twin sister Janet. Born in Ottawa on December 9, 1931, and raised in Morrisburg, Art was the son of the late Arthur and Mabel Flynn. Art graduated from McGill University with a Bachelor of Engineering in 1958, and spent 35 years as a civil engineer with the City of London. Art had many happy memories of growing up with Janet on the shores of the St. Lawrence River. Art was a gifted athlete, a lover of music, especially jazz, and a friend to all animals. He will be remembered for his kindness, integrity, and sense of humour. Art will be greatly missed. We offer special thanks to the staff on the fifth floor of St. Mary's Long Term Care Home, and to Tilly daSilva. In keeping with Art's wishes, there will be no funeral. We will host a gathering of friends and family on Wednesday, August 3rd, at the Highland Country Club, 1922 Highland Heights, 4-7 pm. All are most welcome to celebrate Art's life with us. Interment will take place at St. Peter's Cemetery on Thursday, August 4th, at 11 am. Those wishing to make a donation in Art's memory may consider KidSport Canada, or a charity of their choice.
