SISTER Barbara Vaughan
The Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph in Canada, London neighbourhood, announce the death of our dear Sister Barbara Vaughan, at University Hospital London Health Sciences Centre, June 5, 2016. Born in 1943 in St. John, New Brunswick, and received into our religious Community in 1959, Sister is lovingly remembered by all her CSJ Sisters, her brother Brian and sister-in-law Marion, her niece and nephews, and grand nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her mother Cecilia McCaig, and father Charles Vaughan.
From 1967 – 1982 Sister Barb taught in elementary schools in London, Goderich, and Woodstock. Later, having pursued a Certificate in Pastoral Ministry, she ministered at St. Bernard’s Parish Waterford, Most Precious Blood Parish, Windsor, and Our Lady of Guadalupe, Windsor. Serving at the Catholic Cemeteries of Windsor, Essex gave her the opportunity to accompany grieving families in their expression of loss and hope eternal. Always willing to serve on Diocesan and Congregational committees, she enjoyed maintaining these relationships even as her energy lessened. During her time at the Sisters’ Residence, Sister Barb offered welcome and hospitality at the reception desk. Sister Barb manifested a deep love for life and people, and was courageous in facing into the challenges of the past few years. She lived with both a realism about life and compassion for the frailty of others. All services will be held at the Sisters Residence, 485 Windermere Rd.Visitation Wednesday, June 8 from 2-4 and 7-8 with a Prayer Service at 6:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial: Thursday June 9, 11 a.m. with Father Michael Béchard presiding Burial at St. Peter’s Cemetery
