Obituary of Elizabeth Frances Shumka
Shumka, Elizabeth Frances (nee Yarosloski)
February 11, 1935 to May 2, 2016
With great love and sadness, we announce that our Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother died peacefully in Clinton, Ontario, surrounded by her family. Predeceased by her husband Nicholas John Shumka (1996). Elizabeth will be lovingly remembered by her 6 daughters and son-in-laws: Beverly and James Gagan (Toronto), Cindy and Dave Harrigan (Lucan), Ellen and Martin VanderLoo (Clinton), Teresa and Jeff Young (Ailsa Craig), Lorraine and Walter Santarelli (London), Caroline and Andrew Fediw (London), 17 grandchildren, 12 grandchildren in-laws and 24 great grandchildren. Mom was a devoted Catholic, a loyal Liberal, thrilled when the Blue Jays won a game or the Montreal Canadiens beat the Toronto Maple Leafs. She could talk politics and sports with anyone and was an avid follower of world events. Mom dedicated her life to her family. She loved to cook, bake and sew, play euchre with friends and family, attend grandchildren sports events and concerts. Mom was happiest when the family gathered together for a holiday dinner or celebration. Until health struggles in 2012, Mom attended daily mass at St. Peter’s Cathedral. We will miss Mom’s steadfast spirit and the heart and soul of our family. Visitation will be held at the John T. Donohue Funeral Home, 362 Waterloo Street at King Street, London, on Thursday, May 5th from 2-4 and 7-9 o’clock. Prayers Thursday evening at 8 o'clock. A Christian Funeral Mass will be held at St. Peter’s Cathedral Basilica, 196 Dufferin Avenue, London, on Friday afternoon at 1:30. Interment at St Peter’s Cemetery, 806 Victoria Street, London, followed by a reception at The Delta London Armouries, 325 Dundas Street, London. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to your favourite charity. Online condolences can be made at www.donohuefuneralhome.ca
And while Mom lies in peaceful sleep, her memory we shall always keep.
Love you Mom
