Obituary of Daphne Marie Elie

ELIE, Daphne Marie, 86, peacefully on April 17, 2016 at her residence at Marian Villa Retirement Home in London Ontario. She was born May 31, 1929 in The Netherlands. Daphne immigrated to Canada in 1951 and married her best friend Paul Elie in Toronto Ontario the following year. She is pre deceased by her husband Paul Elie, they were happily married for 61 years, and she is pre deceased by her daughter Mary-Anne Elie. Daphne was the 6th of 12 children and is survived by her brothers, Tony Tecklenburg (Anke) of Sudbury, and Frank Tecklenburg of Barrie, sisters, Mieke, Jacqueline & Jose of Holland. She will be missed by her children Michael (Paulette), Brian (Robin), Richard (Thia), Jacqueline (Yehudi), grandchildren, Meghan, Kaleb, Somer, Forrest, Justin, Kate, Isaac, Nichole and 4 great grandchildren. She will be especially missed by her best friend of over 55 years, Elsie Fryters. Our mom was a stay at home mom and partner with her husband in their Elie’s Catering business for many years, serving the dutch community in and around London. She devoted her retirement years to the care of her daughter Mary-Anne. She was a long time volunteer with the CWA and of Marion Villa for over 20 years. She loved travel, especially to Austria to listen to opera. "We hope mom is smelling the Freesia in heaven". Cremation has already taken place. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Peter’s Basilica at 196 Dufferin Ave, London, at 10:00 am followed by interment of Daphne, Paul and Mary-Anne at St. Peter’s Cemetery, 806 Victoria St. in London.
