As a clerk at the Byron Family Medical Centre for the past 12 years, I meet a lot of different people from all walks of life. I had the pleasure on many occasions of being in your parents company. They were both lovely and extremely kind people. I am sorry to hear of the loss of Art. Even when he was hurting and unwell, he always smiled and made an effort to say hello and ask how I was doing, frequently inquiring about my family, as your mother always did. They were not always well, but that didn't matter as they cared about how I was doing, how my day was going and always wished me well. These kind of people are hard to come by, and I will miss him. My heartfelt condolences to you all as you grieve the loss of a true gentleman.

I will always remember Art fondly from eight years of playing with him in the New Horizons Jazz ensemble, "Swing Shift". He certainly gave a wonderful demonstration in aging gracefully to the younger members of the group. Knowing him in that way was a pleasure and a privilege.
