I think my sentiments should be shared with everyone, knowing everyone will agree with them. From the time we met in 1954, when Joyce, who barely knew me, agreed to be the matron of honour at my wedding (we were short of Catholics) we became fast friends. Joyce later told me that that was the only time in all her pregnancies that she was nauseated.. I hope it was just the excitement, and not me personally. I never saw Joyce without a smile, never heard an unkind word come out of her mouth. I have lost an amazing friend and one, although thousands of miles away from me, still always remained close. I know she is happy now that she can keep an eye on Pat who, hopefully, is with my husband, Ron. Don't exactly wish I were with them, but won't be unhappy when I am.

Dear Moop, Lee, Shaylor, Kit, their three sweet girls and the entire Austin family,
Chris and I have such happy memories of our visits wth your Mom.. When I think of her-- a smile crosses my face...She was a warm, caring person and made us feel so welcome every time we visited.. She knew our families were far away and seem to extend her love to us in a way that made us feel so special!!
Over the years I was fortunate to correspond with her...Christmases, birthdays and St. Patrick days...She always replied with such warmth and kindness...Just a fews months ago she sent a lovely card..It meant a great deal to us...and we wanted you to know we are thinking of you all and although it has been sometime since we've seen the Austin clan==you are in our thoughts and we hold you in our hearts.
love
Anne and Chris

Dear Randy, Julie,Maura Lee, and older brother,
We are sorry for your loss and we share that sorrow. Noni was one of a kind. A Christian and a devote mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
I do not think I have ever met such a fun loving person. A visit to her house was a pure delight. The ceremony of tea making and the spread of food. The fact that she made history in my homeland of Ireland when her and your dad swapped wedding rings. It should be in the Guinness Book Of Records.
When Julie phoned this evening to tell me I later had a quiet moment with Noni...yes you know she is a arm's length away. Because she lives in all our hearts she will never die. I talked to her like I am talking to you now.
Make sure you all drink water for your heart and take some Rescue Remedy and Hawthorn for the heartache. I think Noni will be joining that big man Paddy. Auntie will be playing the piano and for sure they will be having a good strong nip of spiritual whiskey. Be united in your grief and not afraid to cry. it is a time of loss. Know that you are loved as a family by hundreds of people. Noni will not be alone, The Lord was her Shepard and he will be with her in the shadow of the valley Read Psalm 23. Much Love, Sheila and Greg on Denman Island

It is with great sadness that I learned of Joyce's passing. Joyce was an active member of the Catholic Women's League for over 25 years. She will be missed by all in the St. John the Divine CWL Council.

I have long admired Joyce Austin. I knew her as a fellow parishioner at St. John the Divine and a sister in the CWL. It occurred to me as I started this message that the first 3 letters of her name spell JOY. And yes, that is very fitting. Whenever she called me to remind me of an upcoming meeting, she made me happy. We usually laughed together. Any encounter with her made me smile. As she reJOYces in Heaven now, I know, she smiles down at you, the family she loves so much, with gratitude and care.
