Obituary of Leo Austin Johnson

JOHNSON, Leo Austin (Capt. M.M.C.D. Ret'd) Passed away peacefully on February 15, 2014 at L.H.S.C. Hospital in his 99th year. Beloved husband of the late Marjorie Isabelle (nee MacDermott). Loving father of Catherine Johnson of Guelph and Margaret Young and her husband Murray of Chatham. Devoted grandfather of Adam and great grandfather of Ava. Dear brother of Catherine, Julia Yorke (Frank), Agnes Benoit (her late husband Abe), and the late Sr. Anne Johnson, Rev. Bernard Johnson and James Johnson (Joyce). Leo was a proud veteran who served in both W.W.II and Korea. He was also a avid golfer who will be remembered both for walking his rounds up to the age of 98 and for his 14 holes-in-one. Friends will be received at the John T. Donohue Funeral Home, 362 Waterloo Street at King Street on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 o'clock. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Peter's Cathedral Basilica, corner of Dufferin and Richmond on Thursday morning February 20, 2014 at 11 o'clock. Cremation to follow. Prayers Wednesday afternoon at 3:30. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Royal Canadian Regiment Brigadier R.H. Beattie, MC. Memorial Trust or a charity of choice.
