Obituary of George Lewis Cole

George Lewis Cole (1935 - 2011) Following a brief yet hard-fought battle with advanced lung cancer that was diagnosed in late 2010, George Lewis Cole passed away on March 21st, 2011 at London Health Sciences Centre in London, Ontario. He leaves behind his three loving children: Judd, Alison and Stephanie; their respective spouses: Katharina Cole, Jim Hoover and Jon Tondeur; his five grandchildren: Madison, Zoe, Isaac, Cole and Leo; and his dear friend Marie (Meesie) Hutcherson. An accomplished scholar who was raised in the farm country of Leamington Ontario by his parents George Lewis Cole IV of Glasgow, Scotland, and Eunice M. Cole of Peterborough, George graduated from high school at age 16 and went on to complete a Bachelor of Science at Guelph University, followed by a Master's of Law at Osgoode Hall in Toronto. After marrying Patricia Anne (Stagg) Cole (d. 2008) in 1959, he began his law career with Murphy, Durdin and Cole in London, Ontario, and subsequently founded Cole & Morgan Barristers and Solicitors in 1969. He was a passionate courtroom lawyer with a fiery intelligence who tried and won his first case in Grand Bend Ontario, the same town where he eventually retired. A funeral service will be held on Saturday March 26th at 3:00 P.M. at John T. Donohue Funeral Home, 362 Waterloo Street, London, Ontario, Canada.
