Obituary of David Lynn Cox
COX, David Lynn
Peacefully at University Hospital on Sunday January 9, 2011, David Lynn Cox passed away in his 67th year. Beloved husband of Sharon and father to D'Arcy. Son of Hilm (deceased) and Gwen Cox and "much" older brother of Paul. Also survived by brother in law Don (Karen) Braithwaite, sister in law Ellen (John) Haasen, sister in law Barb Braithwaite (Bob-deceased) and nieces and nephews.
Dave spent 27 years as a Teacher and Guidance Counsellor at South Huron District High School in Exeter. "Coach" Cox will also be remembered for the time he spent with the football programs at South Huron, the London Beefeaters, and Oakridge Secondary School. Throughout this time, Dave's battle with rheumatoid Arthritis provided an example of courage and perseverance to all he came in contact with. He was very proud of volunteering his time as a demonstrator with the Patient Partners in arthritis so that future medical professionals could derive some benefit from his experiences in coping with arthritis. Dave's family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of London's Hospitals and medical community (past and present) for providing Dave more than 40 years of a quality of life he would not have otherwise enjoyed. Visitation will be held at John T. Donohue Funeral Home at 362 Waterloo Street at King Street on Sunday January 16 from 2-4 in the afternoon. A celebration of Dave's life will follow at the Waltzing Weasel at 1324 Adelaide Street North, (at Windermere) from 7-9 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family would request that you make a donation to the Arthritis Society of Canada, a charity Dave actively supported throughout his life.
