Obituary of Mary Elizabeth Gowdy

Gowdy Peacefully surrounded by the love of her family, at LHSC University Hospital, London, Ontario on Tuesday August 12, 2008, Mrs. Mary Elizabeth "Mollie" Gowdy (nee Reed-Lewis) of London, formerly of Windsor, Toronto and St. Joseph, in her 82nd year. Devoted and loving wife of the late Bill (2002). Pre-deceased by her son Tom (2005). Also a loving and dedicated mother to John (Paula) of Montreal, Jane Schulze (Paul) of Kitchener, Paul (Teena) of Kelowna, Anne Gillies (Stephen), Peter, Martha Hicks all of Toronto and Pat (Nancy) of London and mother in law to Terry. Loving daughter of the late Ellis and Mary Reed-Lewis. Dear sister of Joan Aspa, Peggy Lumsden, Nella Smedley, and Dorothy Sandison. Pre-deceased by her brothers Father Leo Reed-Lewis and Harry Reed-Lewis. Sadly missed by 24 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Mollie's legacy is one of commitment and dedication to her family, and her faith filled journey was one of unconditional love and nurturing to her children and grandchildren. Mollie also earned respect and admiration in her years of service at the National Headquarters of the YWCA of Canada in Toronto. Visitors will be received at John T. Donohue Funeral Home, 362 Waterloo Street at King Street, London, Thursday from 2-5 and 7-9 o'clock. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Peter's Cathedral Basilica, corner of Dufferin Ave and Richmond St., London, on Friday afternoon August 15, at 1:30 o'clock. Prayers Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Alzheimer Outreach Services of McCormick Home would be appreciated.
