Obituary of Giulio Cappiello

Cappiello, Giulio GIULIO CAPPIELLO, 69, LONDON, ONTARIO, died 8 December 2013. He passed away from complications associated with dementia. Giulio was born in Altamura, Puglia, Italy, on 1 June 1944. After graduation, he travelled Europe before deciding to move to Canada in 1968 and settling in London. Giulio is survived by his spouse, Dorothy, and their three children, Lucia Irene Cappiello, Julia Anne Karakaya (née Cappiello), and Tommaso Franco Cappiello. Giulio also leaves behind his son-in-law, Mahmut Hilmi Karakaya, and his cherished grandchildren, Maya Asena Karakaya and Ahmet Atilla Karakaya. One of eight children, Giulio is survived by his siblings, Anna, Paola, Irene, Lilla, Giuseppa, and Francesco, as well as many nieces, nephews, and other dear family members here and abroad. He is predeceased by his parents, Tommaso Cappiello and Lucia Icaro, his brother Michele, and his niece Lucia Forte. Giulio was a natural entrepreneur and started and ran many successful businesses over the years. His talents were many and varied. He was a true jack of all trades. Though he lived most of his life in Canada, he never forgot his origins. He was fiercely proud of his Italian heritage to the end, and imbued this pride in his children. Giulio will be greatly missed. Visitation will be held at John T. Donohue Funeral Home, 362 Waterloo Street at King Street, on Wednesday, 11 December 2013 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Funeral services and burial will take place in Italy.
