Obituary of Camilla Alice Bertrand
BERTRAND, Camilla
On Monday, Feb.7th, 2011, our beautiful mom Camilla Alice Bertrand (Vaillancourt) gently surrendered to her life's end here on earth, surrounded by all of her children who wished her joy and safe passage to her glorious journey to Heaven. Mom spent the last year living at Mount Hope Centre for Long Term care where staff cared for her with joy and dedication. Mom was predeceased by her loving husband of 62 years, Randy Bertrand, just 6 months ago and we pray that they are once again embarking on a new life together filled with grace and wonder.Thankful for the final gift of mom's humor and grace these last months, we her children Jackie (Bruce), Carolyn (Al predeceased), Randy Jr.(Anne) and Anne Marie (Jeff) release her into God's care now and draw comfort that her pain is over. Our brother and sister, Gregory and Marguerite who were called to heaven as infants are now reunited with mom and dad.
Mom came from a large family and leaves behind a sister Patsy (Tom) Madigan of Tecumseh and is predeceased by her brothers Henry, Edgar, Roland, Renald, Ernest and Lionel and her sisters Marguerite, Lillian, Lauretta, Rita, Madeleine and Bernadette. Mom's gentle guidance and wisdom was lovingly shared with her grandchildren Jason Dix (Lynn), Jennifer Gordon (Michael), Jeff Dix, Darryl McGivery, Greg McGivery (fiancée Annette), Lisa Richter (Todd), Stacie Brittain ( Nathanial), Sara Somerville, Michelle Somerville (Nate) and Craig Somerville (Jaime). Mom delighted in time spent with her great grandchildren Joma, Damon, Emily, Caitlin, Abby, Sienna, Madison and Graysen. Mom's early years were spent in Capreol ON where she raised 4 children, took time to participate in PTA and Figure Skating Clubs, sent kids to hockey and brownies and enjoyed baking and her neighbors. Mom belonged to the Daughter's of Isabella and the Lady Trainmen Association. Mom's faith was always strong and she invited Dad to renew his faith journey with her through their endeavors with Marriage Encounter and the Charismatic movement. The fruit of their labours will inspire us to what marriage and love can be. Mom worked at the Highbury Ave. Kmart for 25 years and could often be heard singing away while she worked the shelves of the hardware department. Her joy, love and wisdom will be missed but not forgotten. Our family extends special thanks and appreciation to the staff who cared for and came to love mom during her 13 month stay at Marian Villa. Many are the giggles that could be heard while staff tended to mom's needs!
Mom, we thank you for the gift of your life and love. You will be missed and remembered.
