Obituary of Caterina Ruscio

RUSCIO, Caterina (nee Caruso)- Passed away peacefully at her home with her family at her side, on November 20, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer. Caterina in her 81st year leaves her loving husband of 60 years, Guiseppe Ruscio. Loving mother of Barbara and her husband Kevin Barfett, Domanick Ruscio and Valeria Ruscio. Cherished Nonna of Dr. Joseph Barfett (BESc, MD) (Stephanie JD, PhD) and Kara Barfett (BEd, PhD'15). She will be sadly missed by her loving sisters Rosina Serratore (late Guiseppe), Maria Martellotti (late John), and brother Frank Caruso (Nancy). Caterina was predeceased by her dear sisters and brothers Jenny, Barbara, John, Vincenzo and Carmelino. Dear sister-in-law of Antonio Ruscio (Anna), Pasquale Ruscio (Nunzia), Barbara Bruni (Franco), Carmela De Nisi (Guiseppe) all in Sault Ste. Marie; whose prayers brought her great comfort. Her extended family including many nieces and nephews both in Canada and Italy will greatly miss their wonderful Zia. Caterina enjoyed her many trips traveling the world throughout her marriage and cherished her home, garden, friends and taking care of her loved ones. The family would like to thank long time friends Dr. Albert Mok and his wife Vicki, their daughters Dr. Andrea Mok and Dr. Leslie Mok; and also great thanks for the attention she received from the caring staff at Victoria Hospital, including Dr. Gray's surgical team, Dr. Kirk Hamilton's palliative care team, the V.O.N. nurses and CCAC staff for all of their care and support. Visitors will be received at the John T. Donohue Funeral Home, 362 Waterloo Street at King Street on Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary's Church, 345 Lyle Street at York Street on Monday morning, November 25, 2013 at 11 a.m. Entombment in Holy Family Mausoleum at St. Peter's Cemetery. Prayers Sunday evening at 7:30 p.m. Donations to St. Mary's Church Restoration Fund or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
