Obituary of Freda Scott McQueen Davidson

Davidson, Freda (née McKay) Born in Millport, Isle of Cumbrae, Scotland, died in Mount Hope, London, Ontario on the 9th of November in her 96th year. She was the beloved wife of Douglas Campbell and was predeceased by her first husband, Dr. Peter Davidson of Stonehouse and Seil Island, Scotland. She is survived by their four children, Anne Cunningham (David) of London, Ontario, David (Jackie) of Granada, Spain, Michael (Ruth) of Appin, Scotland, Peter (Anne) of Benbecula, Scotland and stepson, Douglas (Therese) of Sydney, Australia. Ten grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren are a testament to the love of family she, an only child, passed on to her children. The Canadian grandchildren, Susan, Michael and Robin Lindsay benefitted from her decision to emigrate to Canada after Peter's death in 1979. Their feisty "wee" Granny was a constant presence in their lives as they grew up. The Scottish grandchildren, Jane and Nicola, David and Susan, Ian, Carrie and Sandy will remember her fondly. A busy rural family Physician's wife, she, nevertheless, was always welcoming to a constant stream of friends and family. One or two dogs were always in this mix. Her passion was golf, she played competitively at the County level and was a President of the Scottish LGU. Douglas came into her life after Peter's death and has been a devoted companion since, especially in the last few years when her life was complicated by crippling arthritis and her light but not her spirit, dimmed by dementia. She leaves a great absence as the head of our international family. A service of remembrance to celebrate Freda's life will be held at the John T. Donohue Funeral Home, 362 Waterloo Street at King Street on Friday morning November 15, 2013 at 11 o'clock. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. Joseph's Health Centre or a charity of your choice.
