Mary Quigley

Obituary of Mary Lucia Quigley

Quigley, Mary Lucia Wintermeyer, Mary Lucia Wintermeyer Quigley died in her home in London, Ontario, surrounded by her seven children, on Friday December 1st, 2006. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Mal (Malachi Edward Quigley) and her devoted parents, Caroline Kaiser Wintermeyer and Alfred Carl Wintermeyer and her much beloved brother and sister, John Wintermeyer and Rita Shoniker, each who nurtured in her the incredibly strong sense of commitment, love and compassion to others. Mary taught her children, John Quigley, Ted Quigley, Caroline Quigley, Meg and Gerry Hawkins, Therese Quigley, Patrick Quigley and Daniel Quigley, that compassion for others is the greatest virtue and expression of a true love of God. She was a caring and loving "Nana" to her Grandchildren Jamie Hawkins, Matthew Hawkins, Joseph Hawkins and Sara Macmillan, Katie and Adam Ward, Megan and Jeff Graham and Cory Quigley. Her sisters Lucy Quigley, Betty Brennan and Therese Wiley and her brother-in-law James Wiley, while mourning their loss, rejoice in the knowledge that Mary is indeed now home through the grace of God. Her brothers-in-law, William Brennan and Edward Shoniker and her sisters-in-law, Helen Delaney Wintermeyer, Betty Lang Wintermeyer and her niece, Judith Wintermeyer Dona preceded her death as well as did Mal's brothers and sisters whom she dearly loved, Mary (Mamie) Currie, Johanna Gleeson, Ellen (Bill) Ryan, Jack Quigley, Gertrude Gleeson, Harry Quigley and Blanche Kelly all of whom brought into Mary's life such wit and laughter. Mary's family expresses a heartfelt thank-you for the wonderful care she experienced from CCAC, Dr. John Sangster and staff at the Byron Medical Group and Dr. Kelly Regan. Mary was very grateful to all those who cared for her at home over the last twenty years, in particular, Dorothy Cornell, Sheila Phillips, Donna Cianci and Jean Hagarty and the staff at St. Pius (Holy Family) whom brought Mary such love, tenderness and joy. Her Funeral Mass will be held at St. Peter's Basilica, 196 Dufferin Avenue, London, on Saturday morning December 2, 2006 at 11 o'clock. Interment in St. Peter's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Mary asked that people reach out to help, a special family in need, through your local church or Agency, particularly at this time of year.
