Obituary of Catherine McAuley

McAuley, Catherine Ann "Kay" A kind, good, gentle and caring woman has completed her life journey. Catherine passed suddenly but peacefully in her 84th year on Monday Sept. 30th, 2013 at L.H.S.C. University Hospital, London, Ontario. Catherine was born on January 10, 1930 in London, Ontario, she was the daughter, of the late Thomas and Helen (Gleeson) McAuley. She received her education in London and was a graduate of Westervelt Business School. Catherine enjoyed a long career of 41 years as an administrative assistant with Canada Trust Financial. These many years with one company provided her the opportunity to enjoy many long lasting friendships. Travel, theatre, music, shopping, line dancing and dining out with family and friends made Catherine a remarkable lady. In retirement Catherine gave generously of her time, volunteering at the Cancer Clinic and University Hospital. Throughout her entire life Catherine was an avid reader, in fact it was becoming increasingly difficult to select a book that she had not already read. Catherine was a long time member in the Catholic Women's League at St. Peter's Cathedral Basilica. She is survived by her cousins, Mary and Father Jack Devine, (predeceased by Margaret Devine.) With love and fondness she is remembered by the McCauley family, Jack and Rita, Peter and Jeanne, Tom and Marjorie, Elizabeth and Douglas, Father Alex, Jim and Patricia. Catherine will be remembered by her dear friends Mary Black (the late Don), Brian and Martha Tracey and sons David and Andrew. Throughout her life Catherine was an integral part of the Van Sickle family, she will be dearly missed.Visitors will be received at the John T. Donohue Funeral Home, 362 Waterloo Street at King Street, London, on Friday, Oct.4 from 2-4 and 7-9 o'clock. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Peter's Cathedral Basilica, 196 Dufferin Avenue, on Saturday morning Oct. 5, 2013 at 10 o'clock. Interment in St. Peter's Cemetery. Prayers Friday afternoon at 3 o'clock. In lieu of flowers donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
