Obituary of Alan John Elphee

ELPHEE Suddenly on Saturday September 17, 2005, Alan John Elphee, in his 82nd year, died on the 7th hole of Sunningdale Golf Club enjoying one of his two favorite pastimes. The second as a long time supporter of the London Knights. He leaves behind his wife Janet of 57 years, son Martin (Joanne) of Fort St. James, BC., and daughter, Jennifer of London; four grandchildren, Jennifer, Erin, Kyla and Garrett and two great grandchildren, Hannah and Ty. He is survived by a sister, Dorothy Miller of Florida. He loved his family with all his heart and spoke to friends contstantly about how proud he was of them all. Alan served in the Royal Navy on the HMS Suffolk during World War II after which he emigrated to Canada in 1948. Canada rapidly became home and he was proud to own a piece of it. Alan will be remembered for his quick wit, kindness, generosity and ability to talk to anyone anywhere and be geniunely interested in their life. Private family visitation on Tuesday evening September 20, 2005 at John T. Donohue Funeral Home, 362 Waterloo Street at King Street, London. A memorial service will be held in the chapel on Thursday morning, September 22, 2005 at 11 o'clock. Reception to follow at First Baptist Church, 568 Richmond Street, London. In lieu of flowers donations are to be made to the Cardiac Fitness Institute, London Health Sciences Centre, 747 Baseline Road E., London, ON, N6C 2R6. please insert for TUES and WED
