Obituary of Catherine Mary Payne

Payne Peacefully at London Health Sciences Centre, University Campus on Tuesday, November 2, 2004. If you're reading this, it means I, Cathy (Catherine Mary) am outta here! I had a great run but finally succumbed to ALS - Lou Gehrig's disease, at age 41 years. I lived a charmed life! I had the best family and friends! My mom and dad, Pat (Shea) and Mike were amazing! I couldn't have asked for better parents! My siblings Tom, Margie Medeiros and Bill were also my friends. I'm proud to say my family was fun, generous and sooo good looking! In many respects we were an enchanted family. My nephew's Joey and Luke Medeiros were my pride and joy and boy how I loved them! Much beloved were Jose Medeiros, my brother-in-law and soon to be sister-in law Liz and her wonderful children Matt and Jenn. I was so blessed to have grown up with both sets of grandparents in the city - Mary and Ken Shea and Dorothy and Tommy Payne. They were truly special! I've also been blessed with a wonderful extended family both in the United States and Canada: the Hagers: Aunt Dee (1987) & Uncle Bob, Mark and Ilze, Mike and Deb, Pat & Mary, Tim and Carol and Pete; the Sheas: Uncle Jack (2000) & Aunt Bev, Jeff & Mary, Suzy & Kevin and Tom; the Clarks: Aunt Pat & Uncle Ron, Cathy & Peter, Pam & Michael, Mark & Rhonda, Mike & Val; the Paynes: Uncle Brian and Carmen; the Lillies: Aunt Elaine & Barry; and all their wonderful families. And beyond: the Redpaths, Nolans and Beals and their terrific clans. I've been very lucky to have had many friends and a few very special ones: Dickie (Richard Ellis), Rosie (Rose White), Bun (Mona Murphy) and Janet Beccarea. I was also honoured to be the Godmother to my beloved Sara and Ryan Innes. Thanks again to everyone who made my life so wonderful! Visitors will be received at John T. Donohue Funeral Home, 362 Waterloo Street at King Street, on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 o'clock. Prayers will be held Friday evening at 8 o'clock. Funeral Mass at St. Joseph's Church, 89 Charles Street, on Saturday morning at 11 o'clock. Cremation with interment in St. Peter's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations to ALS Ontario, 265 Yorkland Blvd., Suite 300, Toronto, ON, M2J 1S5 or St. Joseph's Hospitality (Soup Kitchen), 707 Dundas Street, London, ON, N5W 2Z5 would be gratefully appreciated. Hopefully, when we next meet it will be at the bar in the smoking section of Heaven (in Heaven smoking doesn't kill!) Au Revoir. Go Habs Go!
