Obituary of Cora Snider
SNIDER, Cora-
March 21, 1929 - July 17, 2013
Cora passed gracefully surrounded by loving family and friends at Toronto Western Hospital. Growing up in the Sudbury area, Cora made many friends with her friendly demeanor and awesome dance moves. It was in Sudbury where Cora met her beloved husband Alex. After moving around the province they settled in London, ON to raise a family. Alex was taken early and Cora was determined to give her kids a good life. Cora worked most of her life at St. Joseph's Hospital as a receptionist in Radiology. Once again, her cheerful demeanor and comforting ways endeared her to many staff and visitors alike. So much so that she was mentioned by name in the 100 year anniversary book about St. Joseph's Hospital. Another visitor was so taken by Cora's compassion at work, she had Cora nominated for and did receive a 'Citizen of the Month' award from the City of London. While busy raising her two kids taking them to hockey games and dance recitals, Cora was introduced to the game of bridge, and another passion was found. She made many friends playing bridge and became a very accomplished player attaining the 'Life Masters' accreditation. Family always came first with Cora; her dearly loved children John and his wife Anne, and Natalie Hatherell and her husband Fernando Nunes. As most kids are far to busy for Gramma, her devoted grandchildren Karley, Corinne, Teria, Toni, Emily and Brian could always be heard turning down invitations from friends because they were going to Gramma's house instead. Cora will also be fondly remembered by all of her extended family and many, many friends. Visitors will be received at the John T. Donohue Funeral Home, 362 Waterloo Street at King Street on Friday from 6-9 o'clock. The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Andrew the Apostle Church, 1 Fallon's Lane at Huron Street on Saturday morning, July 20, 2013 at 10 o'clock. If desired, donations may be made to the St. Joseph's Health Care Foundation.
