For Aunt Olive The last time I visited the Gurski home on Wavell Avenue, London, Ontario, Aunt Olive and Uncle Henry were both eneregetic and well and we shared a number of laughs over life’s predicaments, including growing older but not feeling any less for it. I don’t recall the exact date I was there, but it wasn’t that long ago. The Gurskies were living in far away London when my brother, Bill and I were born. This meant that we didn’t see them that often, but when we visited them with our mother, Sophie, the Gurskies welcomed us in their home and let us know that distance mattered little when considering family ties. Of course we got to see each other at weddings and such, but by then we were all old enough to drink, and some of us weren’t afraid to let our guards down and wear a lampshade at a wedding or reunion; those were fun times. In my thirties I began visiting London Ontario solo, and I’d give them a call and they’d invite me over. Their hospitality was always so wonderful, memories I’ll always have. Aunt Olive was a cherished sister of my mother, and through her I feel the sorrow of the family on this day. Dear Aunt Olive and Uncle Henry, Rest in Peace Michael Brown

For the Gurski Family: We are very saddened by the loss of Olive - someone's Mom, grandma, great grandma, sister, mother in law and friend. The loss hurts but memories of the good times helps ease the discomfort. Olive is a peace after the slow fading of who she was at her best, to all of you.
