Obituary of Giuseppe "Joe" Rosato
Rosato, Giuseppe "Joe"
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend. Giuseppe “Joe” Rosato passed away peacefully on Tuesday May 28/2024, surrounded by his family. Giuseppe was born on March 4/1934, son of the late Vincenza and Domenico in Pratola Peligna, Italy. In 1960 he married Liberata DiPelino and in 1965 they immigrated to Canada where together they proudly raised their two children, Vincenza (husband Dean) and Tony (wife Susan). He will be sadly missed by his five granddaughters and their families: Amanda (Adam), Sarah (Michael), Laura (Dan), Danielle (Jon) and Julia (Ryan). Also missing their bis-nonno are Robin, Raya and Isabella. Giuseppe was a loving brother to his siblings, Angelo, Carmela, Antonio, and Lucia all predeceased and to sister Bice of Italy. He was a cherished uncle to many nieces and nephews in Canada and Italy. Giuseppe was a successful craftsman and businessman. He was a proud Lifetime Member of the London Marconi club where he spent happy times playing bocce and socializing with friends. In his younger years he was part of the soccer executive for the club and played on the travelling bocce team. He was also an awesome canasta and penuchle player. Dad and mom enjoyed many happy vacations cruising the Caribbean and Alaska, visiting Cuba and Jamaica and of course Italy. He was proud to have returned to Italy in 1997 to celebrate the millennial anniversary of his home town. He was a sports enthusiast who loved watching Serie A soccer, Formula 1 racing and the Giro D’Italia. Our dad was a generous man who worked hard to provide a happy life for his family. He valued education and made sure his children had opportunities he did not have. He was very proud that his children and grandchildren are contributing members of their communities. He appreciated all that Canada offered him but never lost his pride in being Italian. We’d like to express our gratitude to Dr. Hamilton and his team, wonderful PSWs from St Elizabeth Health and the VON who helped dad be able to remain at home. Visitors will be received at John T. Donohue Funeral Home, 362 Waterloo Street at King Street, on Friday evening, May 31 from 6-8 o'clock. Funeral Mass will be held at. St. Mary's Church, 345 Lyle Street, on Saturday morning, June 1 at 10 o'clock. Entombment in Holy Family Mausoleum - St. Peter's Cemetery. Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
