It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Al Young in a tragic accident on Monday, April 8, 2024 in his 78th year.  Loving husband of 55 years of Betty (nee Richards) Young.  Cherished father of Deanna Young (Bill Blumson), Albert Young (Darlene), Maryellen Young (Pete Jones).  Devoted Poppy of Alyssa (Dexter), AJ, Madison, Isabella and Michael.  Al was the youngest of 12.  He is survived by his siblings Ted Young (Mary), Margaret Newman (Hughie dec.), Rosemary Caruana, Patricia Crockett (Wayne).  Predeceased by his siblings, Ron Young, Helen Lawson, Loretta Young, Harry Young (Florence), Jack Young (Queenie), Jim Young  and Bernadette Young. He is also remembered by Betty’s family, including her siblings Barbara (Leo), Helen (Wally dec.), Joan (Mike), Jim (Yvonne), Fred (Sharon) and Cathy. Al was Poppy to many children throughout his life and will be fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  Al will also be greatly missed by his longtime friends Tom and Irene Barkley.  Al worked for many years as a journeyman carpenter and then became a Social Worker for over 20 years. Al was a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus, he also ushered at church and volunteered with the St. Vincent De Paul Society for decades. Visitors will be received at John T. Donohue Funeral Home, 362 Waterloo Street at King Street, on Friday, April 12 from 2-4 and 7-9 o'clock.  Prayers will be held Friday evening at 8:30pm.  Funeral Mass will be held at St. Michael's Catholic Church, 511 Cheapside Street, on Saturday morning, April 13 at 11 o'clock. Interment will be held at Woodland Cemetery at a later date.  Donations to a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
