Obituary of Marie Agnes Scallion
Born June 5,1925 - Died February 2, 2024
She was pre-deceased by her husband Fred Scallion, son Bryan Scallion, brother William Mannette and sister Francis Meuse.
Marie was a loving Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Sister and Aunt who will be sadly missed by her daughter Sharon George (Charles), son Frederick Scallion (Anne Marie) and her son Bryan's widow (Dianne Powell). She was a doting Grandmother of Sarah George (Daniel), Alexandra George (Jeff), Wesley George (Leslie), Christopher George (Renee), Sebastien Scallion (Melanie), Caroline Scallion (Charles), Conor Scallion (Christine), Margret Scallion, Kate Scallion (Arran) and Ewan Scallion. She delighted in being Great-Grandmother to 10 beautiful great-grandchildren.
Marie was born, raised and married in Halifax, Nova Scotia then lived in Montreal for 15 years before returning to Nova Scotia in 1968. She was a kind and gentle woman whose strength and independence blossomed after the death of her husband in 1983. She worked as a secretary until she retired and remained in her own home on Sheldrake Lake, Nova Scotia cutting grass and shoveling snow until moving to an apartment at age 89. She then moved to London, ON in 2019 to be near her daughter, Sharon and "favourite" son in law, Dr. Charles George. Marie was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing delicious meals for her family and friends. She was an avid bridge player and gardener.
Sincere thanks to her personal and palliative care physician, Dr. Elena Matusa, for her excellent care of Marie. Marie was supported by the caring staff of Fox Hollow. Of special mention, Kerrie, Nicole, Stephanie, Marianela, Cathy, Mike, Jooa, Shannon and Shari. These individuals contributed to many pleasant hours for Marie. Thank you.
Cremation has taken place, Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday February 8, 2024 at 11am at St. Francis - St. Martin Church, 46 Cathcart Street. Online condolences can be made through John T. Donohue Funeral Home. If desired, memorial donations made to a charity of your choice are appreciated.
