I remember George with fondness. He would often come by my dad’s restaurant “Doyles Lunch” on Quebec Street. I remember times when he used to play “catch” with me in the alleyway beside our restaurant. I was about 14 at the time. I think he used to visit occasionally with my twin brother Neil. We all attended Church of Our Lady. He called me once about 5 years ago and we had a great chat. Kees, My husband, passed away in 2015. He had retired from Guelph Police Service in 1996 after 28 years on the force. I was so surprised George remembered me….but it only goes to show what a great man he was….he never forgot his acquaintances no matter how far apart they drifted. I’m so sorry for your loss. Sincerely.

My condolences to the entire family.
This time of year I think of how kind he was to let all us "kids" pile into the family van and how he stayed up late to drive us all home - and didn't say a word about are being in our forties.
My thoughts are with you.

Dear Celine, Joanne, Mary Catherine, George and all the family,
I just returned from the UK yesterday with a very bad cold so am not able to be with you today. I have many fond memories of Uncle George and interesting conversations with him, his breadth of interests and experience was wide. I know this has been a difficult year for all of you, loosing Gina and now your dad, but I am sure you take comfort in knowing that his steadfast faith saw him through all this and he is now reunited with your mother and Gina. Sending love and sympathy from both my husband, Peter, and me. Ann Maureen

I'm sorry for your loss. I met George while working as a young news reporter in his capacity as a police detective. I always found him remarkably easy to approach and he always demonstrated respect for me -- something reporters never took for granted given the state of police-media relations at the time. I always admired his quiet but assertive style and grew to trust him as a very reliable source. Later and until very recently we would cross paths at St. Peter's Basilica and he would always greet me warmly. I had great respect for George. He served his community with distinction and was a man of deep faith. May he rest in peace.

Very sorry to hear George had passed.
I first met George when he joined JAYCEES , in the very early 60' s.
He wasted no time in making his presence felt with his keen sense o
humor and hard work.
when our kids were young teens he gave them a tour of the police station
with the purpose being to scare them enough to get them thru their teenage years
safely----and it worked !
My condolences to all the family
He was a great guy
