JD was a unique light in the world. With all of his challenges, he kept an innocent outlook, honest spirit, and keen interest in others. I have so many good memories of him - his first time at Costco when he told the lady making the samples that she was a really good cook, how pleased he was to make Doug do his chores after winning a trivia challenge ("with an L on his back, for loser, because he crushes my dreams"), and of course our many chats about life and spirituality. People who knew him would continue to ask about him years later - he left a lasting spark of joy in those who knew him. Over the years, I'd run into him doing other community work and he'd always greet me with "do you have a minute to chat?" followed by new ideas and insights. Melanie, Beth, Belinda and family - I hope you know how vastly he was loved, and how much he loved you and appreciated you, even when he showed it with a grunt or a scowl.
JD, I hope you found the peace you were searching for.. and that there are no bees or balloons there.
