Pol, Willem Frederik
Willem Frederik Pol (Bill) passed away peacefully at the Village of Glendale Crossing on January 25, 2023 in his 92nd year. Born April 4, 1931 in Leeuwarden the Netherlands. Devoted husband of the late Mary Helen (1994) (nee Scheiring). Loving father of Patty (Tim) Webber, Therese (Rob) Hibbs, Mike (Bev Kobe) and Pete Pol. Predeceased by infant daughter Rebecca (1975). Dearest Grandfather of Ryan (Kirstin) Webber, Catherine (Jason) Hart, Dave Hibbs, Amanda Green, Maryemma, Amy and Jacob Pol, Andy, Jesse and Rebecca Pol. Great-Grandfather of Declan, Wesley, Kai and Hollace Webber, Blake Green and Huxley Hart. Predeceased by his parents, Willem and Agatha and his brothers Frederik, Rudolph, Johannes, Julius and Albert. Bill is survived by his sister Herma Schuurman. He will be sadly missed by many family members and friends in Canada and the Netherlands. Bill was the first of his siblings to immigrate to Canada in 1951 from the Netherlands. He was a hardworking man, making his living as an electrician while digging into various agricultural pursuits on the family farm. As a result of his green thumb, tulips bloomed colourfully every spring on the beloved Pack Road property. With a competitive spirit, Bill was proud of the many awards earned while speed skating and cycling. A member of the Knights of Columbus and the London Speed Skating Club. A special thank you to the staff of the Village of Glendale Crossing for the compassionate care provided. Visitors will be received at John T. Donohue Funeral Home, 362 Waterloo Street at King Street, on Sunday, January 29 from 2-4 pm. Prayers will be held at 1:30pm. Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Family Parish, 777 Valetta Street, on Monday morning, January 30 at 10 o'clock.
